Bank of America is a special kind of stupid

I am convinced Bank of America is a special kind of stupid.

And the story goes like this..
I check my mail maybe once every couple of weeks. This week when I checked my mail I got a check from my favorite banking institution. Free money was in my mailbox!! I was excited.. My prayers have been answered.. A bank error in my favor and hear comes some extra expendable cash. I rip open the envelope like a child on Christmas day and what do I find? A Check!!! And it has my name on it!!! But it's only for a penny. Yes you read that right, a penny. As in one red cent... un centoblos

What the hell are they doing mailing me a check for a penny? But why would I throw it away? It is free money and if they sent it to me they must want me to have it right? Well sort of I guess..

So I drive up to my local branch and put in my ID with the endorsed check and send it off. Here in this line I am not allowed to cash my new found fortune. The drive through lanes are for BofA customers only and although I do still have an account with them I refuse to prove it. After all, I am here to cash a check DRAWN on a Bank of America account and written BY Bank of America. So I park my little SUV and walk inside. The teller is very pleasant but when I refuse to ‘slide my card' she tells me that if I am not a Bank of America customer that there is a $5 dollar check cashing fee. Then she sees the amount of the check and laughs audibly. What is so funny about someone trying to cash a check?

So the cashier tells me she has no idea why they would mail me a check for a penny and that she has never seen one before. I simply respond ‘If you mail me a check, I'm going to cash it'

I WOULD HAVE KEPT IT
written by Clifford Scott Carson , September 04, 2009

Think of the gas wasted on driving to the bank to cash a check for a penny? I wouldn't have cashed it, I would have framed it or at the very least put it in my scrapbook. Sounds like a collectors item.

Sounds like something Lucy would do. Go to a bank to cash a check for a penny.
